10. Godzilla Minus One
Toho's latest entry in their iconic franchise represents everything a blockbuster should be. It balances its monster action with a genuine human story with great characters. American studios should take notes from this film.



9. All of Us Strangers
A Fantastical love story and a story of grief, All of Us Strangers is both mysterious and profound. Its strong performances from its cast brilliantly sell the emotion making an emotionally moving experience.


8. American Fiction
American Fiction finds great comedy in its satire of how we see art. It finds its soul however in Jeffrey Wright's honest performance which helps sell the film's message on how race relates to art, even when it shouldn't.


7. Maestro
Another fascinating examination of art with two fantastic performances from Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan. Cooper's sophomore project as a director finds him furthering his craft behind the lens.


6. The Holdovers
A refreshing return to form from Alexander Payne. The Holdovers finds Payne returning to the character-driven narrative in which he excels. It's such a charming and likable film that few people will be able to resist it.


5. May December
A fascinating look into a series of bizarre relationships. May December's subject matter is not going to be for everyone, but it is an expertly crafted film with multiple layers that will surely satisfy thoughts who are looking for something a little different.


4. Anatomy of a Fall
A murder mystery and courtroom drama rolled into one. Anatomy of a Fall is masterful in its approach thanks to its brilliant screenplay and terrific central performance from Sandra Huller. It will leave you pondering for a long while after it ends.


3. The Zone of Interest
Director/Writer Jonathan Glazer takes one of the most unique approaches to a subject matter that has already been thickly explored in film. A chilling and mundane look at the everyday people responsible for some of the most horrific acts in human history.


2. Poor Things
A bonkers film that doesn't hold anything back, anchored by a career-best turn from Emma Stone. Yorgos Lanthimos continues to establish his reputation as one of the best filmmakers working today with his best film yet.


1. Oppenheimer
Yes, Oppenheimer is really that good. Seeing this film on the big screen in Imax was one of the best sensations I have had in a while in a movie theater. A remarkable achievement from Cristopher Nolan that will likely have a lasting impact on the film industry.
